Multiple BIS & BISS Ch. Elfwish Lyleth, ROMX

A SHORT HISTORY OF ELFWISH

Many years ago a Siberian Husky breeder (Donna) sold a rather obnoxious puppy to a Siberian fancier (Sandy), and in return, Sandy sent the Siberian back to his breeder to be shown! From that auspicious beginning, a friendship was born. A mutual friend bred Pembrokes, and Sandy, growing tired of large dogs, bought a Pem. About the same time, Donna, who, by the way, thought corgis were odd little dogs, was given a Pem. As fate would have it, a lovely bitch puppy was born, and rather than fight over who was going to buy her, Donna and Sandy joined forces and Elfwish was born. That bitch puppy became Ch Lonikii's Domino Intowishin ("Wishin), the foundation bitch of Elfwish Corgis.

During the past 27 years Elfwish has finished over 60 champions, the most famous being Ch Elfwish Lyleth ROMX. Lyleth (pronounced Lilleth) was the top Pembroke bitch in the country in 1994 and has continued her winning ways in the whelping box, having produced 8 champions, including a son who now lives in Ireland. Lyleth crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 27, 2001 leaving behind wonderful memories of a great show dog, and a great companion.

The latest “famous” dog at Elfwish is BISS CH Craigycor Irish Cream (“Bailey”) who won Best of Breed at the 2006 PWCCA National Specialty under breeder judge Mrs. Peggy Kessler. Bailey was bred by the late Mrs Gretta Matthews and is co-owned with Alan Matthews of Craigycor Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Northern Ireland.

In 2004 a new breed came to Elfwish – Dandie Dinmont Terriers. CH King’s Mtn. Elsbeth Elfwish arrived as a 7 month old puppy and promptly not only won at the dog shows but also won our hearts.

Elfwish breeds primarily for the improvement of the breed and success in the conformation ring. However, in most litters there are pet quality puppies available. We follow a strict process for matching puppies and owners, including an interview here at Elfwish with all members of the family. If a Dandie not right for your family, we will suggest an alternative breed that may better suit your life style. For information on available pet puppies, check with us via email or telephone.

Show quality puppies are offered selectively, with males more often available to new show homes. However, we are very careful in determining “show quality”, frequently not releasing a puppy as show quality until 5-6 months of age. Only the very best Elfwish puppies make it into the show ring.

For both show and pet puppies, we do keep a waiting list. If you are serious about wanting a puppy, we will provide a copy of our standard sales contract. A deposit is required to secure a puppy once a litter is born.

We do not routinely co-own dogs with other exhibitors as both Donna and Sandy are AKC conformation judges.
